When I was a child you took me fishing

When I was a child you took me fishing
Something I never thanked you for,
Something I never thought I would long for more,
We caught one after another, always catching

When I was a teenager you told me about a man.
You didn’t use words, with the exception of a few questions,
You showed me the church, then the door, then the Book, with only a few suggestions
I believed, sang, read, prayed, then loved, and believed in the Almighty’s Plan

When I was a young man you showed me how to live
You may not remember this, but it was by pure action,
You cared for your family, wife, children, and grandchildren without a single distraction
Laughing, joking, smiles, food, family, it was always truly festive.

When I was a man you taught me the greatest lesson of all.
You showed me how to need others and love just as much
You made me realize that there is a last touch
Breath by breath, last Breath by Last Breath you were faithful to you call.

When I was a Child you took me fishing
I am thankful that you still are watching
I am thankful that you still are guiding
But most of all, I am thankful that you're glorifying.
